Cinnamon oil and bark are used as healing agents. Cinnamon is a treasury of numerous health substances, the most valuable of which is cinnamic aldehyde, which gives cinnamon its characteristic smell.

The difference is significant because original Ceylon cinnamon is mild, sweet and contains much less coumarin (a substance that can be toxic to the liver and kidneys) than Cassia cinnamon.
