WALK.  

Why is it worth taking a walk?

A walk improves your mood even when you are out  you don't expect this. In one study ( 1 ), researchers found that just 12 minutes of walking increases kindness, vigor, mindfulness and confidence compared to the time spent indoors.

 

Walking increases creativity , especially when you are looking for a solution to a problem. Researchers from Stanford University ( 2 ) showed that walking increased creative inspiration  on average by 60% compared to sitting. The effect was visible during and shortly after the walk between 5 and 16 minutes. As a result, the amount of creative ideas to help solve the "problem" has increased.

 

Walking increases communication between neurons in the brain in older people . Never underestimate the power of walking in terms of brain cell communication and its effect on improving brain health. Research ( 3 ) showed that a year of walking improved the functioning of the brain regions where they appear  aging-related dysfunctions  the body.

 

Walking improves working memory (both in children and adults). If you want to improve your memory, put on comfortable shoes and go for a walk. A German study ( 4 ) showed that walking at your own pace, as opposed to sitting or walking at an imposed pace, improves cognitive skills.

 

Walk  ensures the correct rhythm of thinking . One of the more intriguing areas of research into walking is how walking affects our thinking rhythm and how we think. Researchers  analyzed everything from the cerebrospinal connection ( 5 ) to neurological and biomechanical functions ( 6 ). The results clearly confirmed that walking influences the correct rhythm of thinking. Do you want to solve a problem or calm down - take a walk!

 

Walking prevents heart disease and normalizes blood pressure . The American Heart Association ( 7) recommends 150 minutes of moderate exercise (a minimum of walking) a week to prevent heart disease.  

 

Walking can prevent or aid fighting  with diabetes Women who walked at least 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of diabetes by 30%. Walking has proven to be an effective way to reduce the dangerous abdominal fats that can cause diabetes ( 8 ).

 

Walking can reduce the risk of developing cancer . Research ( 9 )  show that women who walk at least 7 hours a week reduce their risk of developing breast cancer by 14%. Other studies ( 10 ) show that men who underwent treatment for prostate cancer and who walked for at least 3 hours a week reduced the risk of recurrence of the disease.

 

Walking reduces pain and improves mobility . Walking improves and prevents the loss of the ability to move among patients with clogged arteries in the legs ( 11 ).

 

Walking is a tremendous force . Walking is a natural human activity. Regularly spending time outdoors is like an elixir for our brain and a great way to break a sedentary lifestyle. During a walk in the fresh air, our body regenerates, rests and oxygenates. If you don't have scenic views outside your home door, don't worry  comfortable shoes and  a bit of green in spring

 

 

The benefits of daily walking are astronomical as walking positively affects both mental and physical condition, leaving your mind and body happier and healthier! So grab your comfy shoes and go for a walk!
