Do you sometimes start a project with enthusiasm and commitment, but after some time?  time this enthusiasm and commitment  in pursuit of the goal it weakens,  and you let go of what you initially wanted to achieve? WITH  you envy those who achieve  your goals  and you wonder why you fail? It doesn't matter if it's in the morning  getting up  in order to  run, own  business, learning a foreign language or  cleanup in the wardrobe. A goal is a goal.  If so, be sure to  read the article below.

We all start with energy and motivation, so why do we so often fail to achieve the desired  purpose? What are we doing wrong and how to change it?

In some study  it was decided to check what causes that we do not achieve the goal. Why our approach changes as we start to act. We start with joy, commitment and great motivation to achieve the desired goal.  We can already see through the eyes of our imagination  our praise and dream  award, and then suddenly ... Exactly,  What  such  happening  myself  suddenly,  that  our e  engagement  is weakening  and  ultimately

we let go

The researchers had some guesses:

  • When we take action and pursue our goal, our focus is on the reward. We see this award in our minds, we reflect on how we will feel when we achieve our goal, and it is the fuel that drives us to act.

  • At the same time, when we start, we face what is really needed to achieve our goal. Dreams of success alone are not enough, so our focus shifts from reward to effort.

  • And here comes a problem: Instead of focusing on reward, we focus on effort, and the more we focus on effort, the more likely we are to fail.

The researchers conducted two experiments to measure physical and mental effort while waiting for a reward (in this case, a financial reward). In both experiments, participants were offered options to combine high or low effort with high or low financial rewards. Study participants were given a choice, they could adjust their expectations (high effort for more reward, less effort for less reward, etc.).

The results of the experiments were consistent in both physical and mental exertion: the amount of financial reward influenced which participants chose the combinations  effort-reward as expected. But when they started working, their performance was determined by how much effort it would take to win the prize, no matter how much money from the prize was at stake.

In other words, focusing on rewards motivated and gave the willingness to act - to pursue a goal -  but the focus on the effort won out when it started  work, and this lowered the motivation  to act.

Dr. Agata Ludwiczak, research author and researcher at Queen Mary University of London said, "We found that there was no direct relationship between the amount of the award and the amount of  the effort people put in. This is because when we make choices about the workload, we are motivated by the rewards we expect to win. But the moment we start doing what we planned, our focus is on the level of effort we have to put in, not on the rewards we were hoping to get. "

According to this study, the problem is that we are not focusing on the reward - as often as necessary. A frequent vision of a reward will keep us moving towards the desired goal.

A significant problem in achieving the desired goal is also the realistic reflection of the amount of work and effort that we have to put in  to achieve this success and dream goal. It's worth thinking about it before we act.

"When we are faced with the reality of our choices, we realize that the effort is too much and we give up," adds Dr. Magda Osman, co-author and professor of experimental psychology at Queen Mary University. "For example, getting up early to exercise to lead a new, healthy lifestyle may seem like a good choice, but when the alarm goes off on a cold January morning, the rewards are not enough to get you out of bed."

How to increase your chance of success?

  1. You must be aware of how much effort this will cost you before proceeding  action;

  2. as you progress toward your end point, think  about the rewards waiting for you at the end of the road to success.
